It’s that time of the month again! And yes, I have been waiting to use that joke for an entire month (actually since the end of January, if I’m being completely honest). This month I opened up a poll on Instagram and Facebook asking if you actually wanted to read about my March Favorites or if you’d prefer something else. It was mainly because I wasn’t sure if you all were actually interested in my favorite things and I didn’t think that I had any favorites to write about. Also, I figured I’d open it up to you to see if you wanted a change from the norm. But most of the votes said March Favorites so here we are!

At the beginning of the month, I went with my friend, Megan to get my second tattoo. That was the adventure (that was a smidge postponed) I was referring to with my “Friendships Worth More Than Words” post. I’ve mentioned it before in a post from last year, but my first tattoo I got over the summer with Megan, who did get a tattoo, and a bunch of other friends, who did not get tattoos. It’s a ladybug on a dandelion seed based on an image I saw on google that Megan fixed up for me, so it was more to my liking. The meaning behind that one is that ever since I was a baby my mum called me Beca Bug and would dress me up in ladybug clothes. Ladybugs became my favorite by default and the luckiness of them is a bonus.

My new tattoo is for my dad. I call my dad Papa and for almost as long as I can remember, he would sign his name on cards and letters with two paw prints as in paw-paw. I originally wanted him to draw a whale similar to the one he welded me out of an old Oilzum motor oil can, but he was very hesitant. So, I bargained with him and said if he draws me his paw prints, I’ll put that with the whale somehow. He drew two pawprints but made them the center shaped like hearts. I said to him before his work trip, “the next time you see me I’ll have a whale on my arm!” After mulling it over and some advice and I decided to just get the paw prints. The tattoo artist modified them to make the drawing “cleaner” and I had them tattooed on my left arm. When I saw my dad after his trip, he was expecting the whale. When he saw the two paw prints, instead, he looked a bit like he was about to cry. I asked if he liked them or if he was mad that I got another tattoo… he said both and then kissed me on the head. We’re adorable, I know. So long story short, I got a tattoo dedicated to my dad and his reaction was my next favorite thing. Also, I’m sorry, Papa. I’m still going to get more tattoos.

A couple weeks ago I went to get my second tattoo with @meganannefrank . My dad is one of the most important people in my life and is a huge inspiration to me. I call my dad Papa and he signs cards with two paw prints and has done so for almost as long as I can remember. He was reluctant to me getting another tattoo, especially one he drew, so he modified his usual paw prints to have hearts, they got tidied up a bit, and then tattooed on my body for all the world to see. My dad, for some reason, frightens people sometimes, but if you really know him he's an absolute goofball which is where I get that from. And despite the Hawaiian shirt he's wearing, he actually gets that from me. I love you, Papa! ❤🐾❤ • • • • #love #family #dads #fashion #smile #tattoos #newink #ink #inspiration #pawpaw

Game of Thrones. Oh my god. Game of Thrones. I have been wanting to watch this show shortly after it started but I didn’t have an HBO subscription so I couldn’t. Fast forward to Christmas time of 2018 while I was visiting my second family in Florida, I started watching GoT from the begin

ning with them. I was hooked, although they didn’t really think so. I have been watching since then, and I’m finally on, and almost done with, season seven. I have never been into gory things in shows but that changed with this. Like, it’s kind of scary the joy I feel when horrible people have something bad happen to them and the absolute horror I feel when something bad happens to the good people and animals. I was watching it with my mum one night and she goes “There’s too much sex in the show”, to which I reply with, “Eh, the blood and gore make up for it.” I am so excited for season eight to be released and my friend and I started thinking up watching party plans back in February. If you haven’t seen the show, I highly recommend it as long as you don’t mind all the graphic profanity and gore. And to anyone who thinks they’re “above” GoT, so to speak, for being “part of the 1% that hasn’t seen a single episode” (I’ve seen your snarky memes, Facebook), you are entitled to your opinion just as much as the fans, but please don’t ruin the joy I and so many others felt when Joffery was choking to death from poisoned wine at his wedding reception.

If you don’t follow me on Spotify, stop reading for a second and do so right here because I must say, my taste in music is impeccable. It is also a pretty wide range from indie and pop to punk and jazz. I feel like the playlist that best describes my range in music taste, other than my weekly discover and daily mixes created by Spotify, my “Oldies” playlist that I created is great and I have been listening to is a lot lately. The music ranges with the oldest from about 1937 with the song “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Benny Goodman to the most recent being “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden in 1999. And as someone who was born in the 90s, I know that the 80s and 90s are not old, but the oldies radio stations don’t seem to grasp that very well, hence the quotation marks in the title. The music in this playlist is full of throwbacks for anyone born prior to the year 2000 (who is still alive to enjoy them at least). Not only is the time span of music pretty big, but the range in genres is also a peculiar mix. For example, when I was sitting in Starbucks getting some school work done before my shift, the song “Sh-Boom” by The Chords, an absolute bop, by the way, was playing and was then followed by “Pour Some Sugar On Me” by Def Leppard, another banger. This playlist has to be my favorite one that I made, and I most certainly do not give it or myself the credit either of us deserve for such a masterpiece. You can click here to see what I mean.

While we are on the subject of music, I would also like to have a most honorable mention: “Sucker”. I was not really a fan of the Jonas Brothers growing up because I thought it was cool to be different. I mean, it is cool to be different, but I was just being a dork. I did the same thing with Jesse McCartney. Clearly, I was completely in the wrong. It wasn’t until about high school and college that I smartened up and realized that they are great and so is their music. Anyways, if you haven’t been in the loop, the Jonas Brothers got back together, released a single the same day as the announcement, and had their first song reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. “Sucker” is so great, and the music video is art. If you stopped reading my post just to go enjoy it, I do not blame you one bit (but please come back).

Now I have seen Granny and her grandson Ross all over the internet and I’m sure you have, too, whether you realized it or not. Well, last night while I was procrastinating writing this post, I saw a story called “Gangster Granny” and immediately recognized the white-haired woman in the picture. I clicked it and watched. Every. Single. Episode. She is just so cute and I kinda wish she could be my grandma, too. The first one I watched was her heckling bodybuilders at a body-building convention. It’s great! She’s a 91-year-old woman telling bodybuilders that they’re squishy, their boobs are going to get saggy, and asking them what supplements they use. Absolutely inappropriate but an absolute a joy to watch. I subscribed to it almost immediately. If you have Snapchat, here’s the link so you can too.

My last one is Buzzfeed’s Good Advice Cupcake. I have been a fan of Cuppy’s since I saw the video of Cuppy telling you what to do when life gets you down (spoiler alert, you grab it by the balls). You can follow @thegoodadvicecupcake on Instagram for more wonderful videos like the one I mentioned, but that is not all that Cuppy has to offer. People can send in their real-life situations to get actual advice, too. On top of it, Cuppy is the epitome of positivity sharing body positive and self-love advice and overall good vibes. Need a pick-me-up or just want some reassurance that you are, in fact, awesome? Go follow the Good Advice Cupcake. You will not regret it.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about my favorite things this month! If you didn’t well, you voted for it so it’s ultimately your fault… I’m kidding. This was actually a lot of fun writing and thinking about all of the things I have enjoyed over the past month. Once again, I’m opening this up to you. Comment below what your favorite things were this past month. What do you think I should look into next? Do you have any music suggestions? How do you feel about Game of Thrones? Joffery’s death? What you are your predictions for season eight? Too much?
